THE STORY

Under the Lights is the award winning story of Sam, a boy with epilepsy, so desperate to feel like a normal kid, he goes to prom knowing that the lights will make him have a seizure.

Cinema has historically stigmatized and ignored people with epilepsy. A demographic of 1 in 26 who have almost never been represented authentically on screen, and suffer from brutal stigma every day. Written and Directed by filmmaker with epilepsy, Miles Levin.

Under the Lights is a story you haven’t seen before. First a short, now a full feature in post production, regarded as one of the highest profile moments in epilepsy awareness history.

The film stars Pearce Joza, Tanyzn Crawford, Lake Bell, Randall Park and Nick Offerman.

Miles Levin

Writer, Director, Executive Producer for Under the Lights (Short and Feature)

Miles Levin is an award winning writer/director and public speaker living with epilepsy. He first decided to pull from this experience when he worked at a camp living for kids with the condition, horrified by the stigma they faced, and the inefficacy of most awareness efforts. Stigma comes largely from our exposure to movies and television that have trained audiences to fear people with epilepsy. Through Under the Lights, we can change that. The Under the Lights short has become a movement, becoming so popular in the epilepsy world that Miles travels the country every month screening it years after it’s release. He’s proud of that impact.

Producer for Under the Lights - (Feature)

Natalie Metzger of Vanishing Angle is an award winning producer with multiple festival hits, like Thunder Road, The Wolf of Snow Hollow, and It Ain’t Over. Natalie is proud to produce a project with such strong purpose and message, and can’t wait to see the full feature change the conversation around epilepsy awareness.
